I care when it's nice things. I even save them now. I don't care
  when someone says mean things. I consider that emotional
  manipulation which I don't care for. So I go absurd on them and
  take them literally and/or agree with them. They hate that and
  it makes me laugh. Solves the problem every time smile emoticon
