I ran a Minecraft server for 2 yrs (2012-2014) and in about one
hour or so, the Aussie and NZ kiddies would come home from
school and get on the server and yeah, the language DEFINITELY
changed. I let them talk the way they wanted (I just checked in
once in a while to see if there was bullying going on,
otherwise, I just kept the server window shut and let them talk
about whatever; I ran it like it was their server and had enough
admins that I didn't have to worry about much) That is... until
it was summer vacation for Americans and they were up all night.
(aussie afternoon) WELL... it wasn't very long before the
complaints came rolling in about the language... and I had to
put a profanity filter on. I personally didn't care WHAT ppl
said as long as nobody was being bullied or excessively gross or
overly perverted. But when the American players encountered the
Aussie players... yeah. Total culture shock. So, I had my nephew
help me come up with a list of substitute curses that he thought
would be funny. They hated the censorship but it qualified as
bullying at that point, so I had to respect that.
