I never felt a strong "blood" thing. I basically see life as a
  giant slime mold that I'm a part of and any help I bring
  anywhere to improve something in the species somehow helps the
  whole slime mold a little, so procreation was never a concern I
  had. Yeah, it's hard to know if it's a cultural infection or
  something that genuinely important regardless of cultural
  influence. That's where the "is it really from me? not from me?"
  issue gets really really difficult to discern.
