It's possible. Our cognitive systems are much more free than our
bodies allow. Inside of the brain concepts can move around in
ways that are impossible at present with our bodies and
technologies, yet it is *also* these same concepts that push us
forward to MAKE new technologies to accomplish our dreams. So, I
dunno: To take your line of thinking to the extreme, it means
this computer in front of me is predestined to happen in some
form among the cave dwellers of 10,000 years ago, like a series
of inevitable switches chained together through circumstance to
result in an inescapable human progress. I'm exaggerating of
course. But I think the "thoughts are out of our control" is a
bit of a cop out. We are still accountable for our actions.
We're still accountable for the products of our reasoning. We
have inhibitory circuits: How do we engage them? We decide.
