My view of good science is that it's an extension of common
  sense and can go off track if it tries to be a full replacement
  for common sense - after all someone trained in physics will
  naturally see everything from a limited physics viewpoint.
  Someone who is mathematical will see everything from a
  mathematical perspective etc. That's why I take grand everything
  theories with a big dose of skepticism. I first ask "what's
  their limiting perspective?" And it's helpful. Doesn't take away
  from good stuff they have to say but it provides a context from
  within which to view their work.
