In high school, my physics teacher said that I had interesting
ideas in Quantum physics that that I should pursue them in
college. got it on paper tongue emoticon This is back in
1989/90. Alas, the professor I *wanted* for mathematics and
quantum theory was on sabbatical the semester I joined, so I
ended up going into child psychology instead. Never finished
college (did a 1.5 yrs 'til money ran out) but I'm kinda glad in
a way: If I had been able to continue the whole route, I'd have
found myself in the mid 1990s Theoretical Physics culture. What
were they doing and funding at the exclusion of all else there?
String Theory. Not that String Theory is bad or wrong of course.
But there was no other game in town. None. I keep hoping it gets
  better. I think it will.
