I'm a fan of skepticism myself. Hell, I'm even skeptical of my
own skepticism sometimes and even let myself accept something as
tentatively true once in a while. Even as a kid in Sunday School
(methodist) I remember shaking my head at this story, but it was
never really an emphasized one anyway. Always liked Job though.
That's a story I found more relatable that was somewhat similar
in focus. == But again, it's fiction. Even when we learned it,
they explained it was based on an older story (a borrowed story
from another culture) that found its way in. Anyway, I'm not
going to argue the relative merits of contextual vs isolated
readings of texts to ascertain meaning or what are best/worst
conclusions to draw from. Just sayin' - fiction doesn't take
away from thought experiments, whatever conclusions one reaches.
