I've had "oneness" experiences. You just can't put them into
words where they sound rational or everyday. They're not
everyday but if you've had them, you relate when someone tells a
story about them. To me, whether it's a mind-trick or a
connection to a higher dimension somewhere, it almost doesn't
matter much. It's a heluva experience that I recommend. Prayer,
meditation, stroke, some drugs, sleep depravation, extreme
stress, magnetic coil around the head thing (the one some ppl
made people have god experiences with)... they all work. It's
cool. Finding words for it is hard. While you're in it, you
CAN'T describe anything. You're just... 'there'. When you're out
of it, ppl look at you like you have two heads, unless they've
been there too. Considering the illusionary nature of reality
_anyway_ and the limitations inherent in being human as opposed
to - anything else - I don't see the harm in mystical experience
or the various descriptions people give of it. Shit's hard to
  describe smile emoticon
