Same. I'm not a teacher either but being an
entertainer/educator/personality online I have teens that follow
me and I make it a point to provide specific, meaningful
compliments now and again. Sometimes even just a like emoticon
or "Awesome!" is enough but I try to be specific and positive
when I can. More important than how I do it, is the fact that i
mean it. I care. I believe at some level there are some kind of
invisible connections between people and cultivating one's own
positive (yet also matter-of-fact as well) attitude improves
people who see you.
