People are smarter than we give them credit for yet can become
stupid when found in groups of three or more. -- [that's one of
my 'people rules'. Figured that one out in elementary school,
and the rule has never let me down] - True. Also, when three are
talking at once, they may not assign a leader, but they are
likely to resort to the lowest intelligence they have in common.
Think: adolescence and groups of three. -- A related rule, one
that isn't mine: A group of people may not assign a leader, but
they will always find someone to pick on. -- "mob mentality"
  doesn't require a leader: just monkey-see, monkey-do, as the
expression goes. -- Sometimes. Sometimes the originator is
anonymous though. One says it, another repeats it a little
louder, then others a little louder, next thing you know
everybody is chanting it, and nobody knows who started it. This
is very common in sports arenas. -- "That is not a leader
though, that is a prime mover. The intellectual of the crowd.
The leader could change the slogan at will, the prime mover
can't. When there is no leader, the slogan is the leader." John
  L. -- That right there explains the power of Media. A single
headline can change public opinion in a second. --
