I'm glad it was reported in the UK. The USA, or at least our
  major Internet information feeds, which these days _is_ Facebook
  for people like me who do not pay attention to news much, did
  not seem to. Our media tends to lump everybody in that area of
  the planet into "Middle East" without much distinction but we
  remember France as "the country we like to hate and love at the
  same time" and as a language we took a french class in. But when
  it comes to Lebanon, we think of an old conflict from many years
  ago in Beirut and don't know much about it. I'm stereotyping
  America of course but we have a lopsided education and lopsided
  media when it comes with anything that's not USA.
