They also tend (although not required) to pay their workers at a
higher rate than other fast food chains. I know some places have
the starting point at $11/hr, which is unheard of in fast food.
They're also scrupulously clean. Cultish? Sure. That's corporate
culture. Saw it at Schering-Plough too, although it was waning
by the time I came in there. But back in their heyday, they had
company songs and stuff. IBM was known for their cultish
corporate loyalty way back when. The God angle seems strange,
but strip that away and you have a model corporation. They don't
just slap their names on the backs of kids' baseball teams; they
go out and buy uniforms, donate a portion of their proceeds to
local charities.. so you actually SEE the benefit of a
Chick-Fil-A in your own community. That being said, I don't eat
there a whole lot 'cause they're a little expensive and I'd
rather go to a restaurant at lunch-time prices. But as a
company, while some of their ways may be a little odd in 2015,
they're doing something right. --- I sound like an ad for them
tongue emoticon I just like businesses that do things right.
It's so often far easier to see businesses that just... do
things wrong. *ahem Microsoft* --- Starbucks is another good
example of a very cultish corporation that inspires extreme
customer loyalty. Then again, so does Duncan Donuts, and i think
i'm a part of their particular cult.
