Ah very true. Still, I think one of the differences with John
  Ellis vs some other string theorists is that he places a far
  higher priority on the validity of experimentation over pure
  theory. That's the point that impresses me about him, moreso
  than his work on or choice of string theory. Some string
  theorists are happy to live in the land of pure mathematics -
  and that's fine - but without the experimental data, they're
  nice thought experiments. That's the nuance of difference I see
  that he makes.
