I thought of an idea a while back and I try to use it and write
about it as I go along:
I call it: The Bullshit Detector.
No single approach makes up development of your Bullshit
Detector. As Bullshit comes in many forms you need proper
defenses for each type, depending on the situation.
If you use a single system, such as "Logical Fallacies" for your
bullshit detector for example, you will miss the bullshit within
logic.
If you use "doesn't seem right" and stop there, sometimes that's
enough for personal protection, although it limits the ability
to explain it to others.
If you mainly appeal to authority (Science says, Statistics
show, Officials say, etc), you miss out on the bullshit within
those systems.
So a good bullshit detector requires many weapons.
