The method is sound. The application of it usually is.* Yet
  sometimes other very human forces take over.* Hopefully over
  time truth gets sifted out through it but it's always good to
  keep both eyes open. Look at religions.* Many of them, at their
  core, are very good and useful systems, when they stick to their
  ideals.* Being a Christian at its core is being a good person in
  theory. But then there's the application. The practice of
  science, also made up of humans, suffers from the same issues.
  Global warming is a strange case; it was a purely scientific
  issue until 1988, with the formation of the IPCC.* Then
  everything past that point had a different character, a
  different push.* Pure science on the issue was no longer really
  possible, as there was a carrot on a stick now. This doesn't
  mean there wasn't and isn't good science being done within.* I
  believe there is.* Yet, still, when they get mixed together, it
  always leaves me with an awkward feeling.
