We're not free from the mythologies and beliefs of our culture
  either, which includes rationalism, secularism, the John
  Wayne-ish, "I'll believe it when I see it, ma'am" attitude. It's
  not that it's bad or wrong, just that it's what we all grew up
  with here. From your cultural perspective, sure. I'm not gong to
  take that away from you: I believe in religious freedom. Of
  course. I'm not denying the reality of objective measuring. But
  there's a difference between "is" and "is only".

  I don't have the "only". Religious people talk about capital T
  truth. That's their thing.   Your faith is unshakable in the
  systems you ascribe supreme importance to. I think that's
  marvelous.
  I'm still piecing together mine.
