Secularism is a part of American culture, [1]Tom Marcinonis -
religious groups that have been around for a long time have
lived side by side, supported and encouraged science and reason
before any modern atheist movements came around and these same
religious groups assisted with the development of modern
  Science.

Reigned in by secularism? No. You're assuming all have always
been extremist. That is a ridiculous reading of modern history.
  [post 1700s]

It's easy to focus on the extremists. They don't make it hard
because they're stupid.   It depends which one John Symon
You've been receiving a black and white view.
The 19th century concept of an uncrossable divide between
science and religion has reared its ugly head again in the late
  20th/early 21st century.

Historians laugh at it. That people actually BELIEVE there's
some irreconciliable differences blows my mind.
