One of my favorite movies of all time.
  Fiction.
  But well done indeed.
  I think the pastor's character was a little thin; he could've
  used a religious adviser to fill his character out a little
  better [maybe there's pastors like him, but having talked to
  many pastors of different denominations through the years... his
  character was kinda.. well.. really dumb] considering his
  importance to the story, but really loved Jodie Foster's
  performance.

  Long haired extremist was dead on target. One of Sagan's
  complaints wasn't religion but extremism, whether it was the
  extremism of political funding or the extremism of cults. He saw
  a coexistence between mainstream religion and scientific
  endeavor.

  He shaped my agnosticism and pretty much guaranteed I'd never be
  atheist.
