I couldn't agree more.
  I have a lot of very pro-science friends. [scientism is the
  movement they're a part of and most can't see it] and they
  believe the courts, politics, pretty much EVERYTHING should be
  replaced by the Magic of Science.

  The thing is... it's not that Science is bad; it's not. Science
  is great! Even corporate science [for they have the funding to
  actually make some fascinating discoveries].

  However, when it comes to bringing those results to INDUSTRY and
  engineering solutions... _somebody_ has to be watching.

  I'd never want Science to have leadership. There's no need for
  ethics in Science itself, but there _is_ a need for ethics in
  Engineering, Industry and technology because THOSE fields engage
  with society.
