  Once I was at a concert with my friend who is really into pipe
  organ music and I caught his interest. Somewhere in my 20s or
  so.

  The organ was going "up up up up" in tone, doing some kind of
  scale... then suddenly, there was NOTHING.... and then the notes
  descended again.

  I must have had one HECK of a look on my face, because my friend
  turned to me and said, "You didn't hear those notes, did you?"

  Jaw gaping open, I just shook my head 'no'.

  Quite surreal smile emoticon

  This is my hearing test from when I was 6 years old in 1978. I
  compared it to one done a few years ago. Same. I'm quite lucky.
