for an attempt at historical continuity within the tradition
before then attempting cross-cultural comparison. Oh it's not
that simple of course. But the thing about historical continuity
is that there is the opportunity to check the archeology against
the received elders to make comparisons. The only reason I'd
chose their text over post 19th century "start from scratch"
reconstructions is because the history seems to support it.
I could also go with the Coptic as well, as their split was
earlier - the theological differences being that of an iota.
