They're paid to die. Doesn't matter the reason why. They're
  expendable by their very nature. That's why they get paid as
  much as they do... and... get really shitty health care. UGH, I
  have a neighbor who is ex-CIA. He has some harrowing stories -
  mostly about mistakes. It's like the organization had two left
  feet and couldn't get anything right. People scrambling to get
  recognition, promotions and stuff... lack of cooperation at all
  levels for all things...

  Having worked for a Pharmaceutical company (Schering-Plough) for
  a few years on some large projects, (systems analyst), I had the
  same kind of experiences there. No different. Conspiracy is
  nearly impossible in large organizations, no matter how cozy the
  higher ups are with each other.

  Anyway, the VA does the worst surgeries. They used a vaginal
  mesh for his hernia. Totally wrong usage for it. The thing
  floated around 'til his intestines were popping out again. Took
  him a year to get dentures after getting his teeth pulled - they
  promised him a much shorter time than that.
