Thanks for understanding my little rant. I just see
Transcendental Meditation as having wormed its way into the
belief systems of many secular humanists, agnostics and
atheists, marketing itself as THE NO-GOD SPIRITUALITY quite
successfully.

Maharishi Mahesh Yogi was masterful at subtle influence
He influenced the Beatles for a number of years and became a Pop
Star in his own right. Much of the furthering of research into
the more dreamy side of Quantum Physics was thanks to his
influence to New Age culture, inspiring the smart hippies who
then went to college with the ideas and were able to explore
them mathematically.
TM is a "third way", both Science and Religion and neither
Science nor Religion - such is how it markets itself.
That's not to say that it's "bad" per se; I know many people
knowing practitioners of TM.
I just have skeptical eyes towards it. I was raised with bits
and pieces of New Age thought and so they kinda stick out like a
sore thumb to me.
