Well, ideas can be EXPLAINED BY our descriptions of sensors that
  bounce things off of other things, form images on computer or
  paper, we read them, and say, "This is what ideas are".

  And they're partially right.

  They're right enough that we can use this information "as if"
  it's true, because it functions as if true.

  So, we can say "ideas are physical" because of brain scans. I
  say that a lot.

  At the same time, like a "dream within a dream", we're comparing
  concepts to concepts, ideas to ideas with each other, nodding
  our heads in agreement and say, THUS IS SO!

  For all human practical purposes, it is.

  It can still be real, still be physical, and still be an idea
  all at the same time.

  People who say "just an idea" get it backwards. All we HAVE is
  shared ideas and mutual agreement. We're able to do stuff with
  this; make things that function like computers and such; good
  enough for our purposes.

  But it's only enough to serve our needs.
