"Schekman said pressure to publish in "luxury" journals
encouraged researchers to cut corners and pursue trendy fields
of science instead of doing more important work. The problem was
exacerbated, he said, by editors who were not active scientists
but professionals who favoured studies that were likely to make
  a splash."

YES! Of course, he waited 'til he won to reject the same
journals that helped him win by getting the word out there, but
hey, gotta play to win. In a way, he's kind of like an immigrant
that says, "OK, TIME TO CLOSE IMMIGRATION" once he's in.

BUT EVEN STILL: he's right. And I'm glad he said it. Will
something come of it? Who knows. But I hope it does. Getting a
couple of scientists on their review panels would be nice.
