They'll find a way to monetize it. Still though, it'd be nice to
have another universal format. Maybe this one will stick. The
thing about flash is the interactivity of it. Flash games. If
it's just a passive one-way format, then it's just another
video/audio container, and HTML5 works fine. But if it's
interactive *and* secure *and* open source *and* easy to make
interactive things with, it could very well succeed in replacing
a lot of HTML/CSS/Javascript BS which to me, is a greater
problem than Flash,
Why we're still delivering information on modified 1993 specs
I'll never know. It never delivered on the promise and its crap
but we keep heaping new... ok... I'll not rant on that.
There *was* great hope with ... oh what is that called.. hm -
there's a slideshow format that allows for delivery of videos,
music, text, all at proper times, and easily scripted for
interactivity natively... supported by most browsers... man I
can't remember what it's called. Well in any case, I hope the
replacement is an improvement. Honestly, I don't see why they
can't develop backwards compatibility... but they won't. I just
hope it's a decent thing they put out here.
