Yeah - I mean corporate/government involvement was a part of
  Science since the industrial revolution. I'd agree with the
  change as well. I WANT to believe in (aliens/ufos - oh wait, not
  those) a "good ol' days" but I don't think there was one. Robber
  Barons 100 yrs ago = 1%ers now, etc. Not much has changed,
  except we forget history quickly. but yes I love the meme. It's
  one of those [1]#childhoodruinedmemes for many. They believed
  what they were taught; the golden Scientific Method That Would
  Save Humanity... and people who don't "do science" get to keep
  believing the mythology.

  But then when they "see it"... they know. And it's
  disheartening. That doesn't mean there isn't good science there
  is. But I think it's important for ppl to take off the rose
  colored glasses, see how things "are and then go from there.
