My nephew, from the age of 6 onwards (now he's 10) has had the
  adventures of "Kaptin Kity" [

  Kaptin Kity is a pirate cat who lost a tail in a fight in the
  intergalactic dog wars. For a time, the dogs entered the cat
  Universe and took over their planet but kaptin kity rescued
  them. He lost his sister due to a drowing accident, had to kill
  his brother who wanted to take over the ship (when he was still
  earthbound thanks to an accident with his fur-coverered ship
  landing at Cape Catnaveral and being confiscated not by NASA but
  the CIA who was spying on NASA and wanted to know the secrets of
  intergalactic propulsion and their anti-gravity technologies.

  Kaptin Kitty has been fighting the mole people underground for
  about a year now, haven't heard much from him for a while. He
  may end up staying down there forever although last I heard he
  was having some successes at rescuing the mole people by turning
  them into cats and any day now he will fight the Mole King,
  unless it turns out to be him, which is also a possibility. He
  used to be an expert rapper but not a very good dancer since not
  having a tail messed with his sense of balance.

  The funny thing is: my nephew doesn't like cats very much. He
  never did. Go figure.
