Yup. Having written many a program, built/fixed/troubleshot many
a computer, my own humanity and the frailty of the people who
made the computers, the compilers, the components, the
assumptions - oh god the assumptions - becomes all too clear.

My favorite was my third day in computer repair, back in the mid
1990s. Wonderful motherboards made from China. Good price,
  worked great; built by robotics.

  But... inspected by humans.

Blew out a $200 motherboard and $500 CPU once, even though I did
  everything right.

  Why?

  Leads were too long.

The INSPECTOR at the factory was human and I was human and
didn't think to notice that some of the leads were REALLY LONG
and caused a simple electrical arc. The smell was beautifully
horrible as the puff of smoke rose and filled my nose.

  Can't believe I didn't get fired.
