  yes, I agree with you both. It's funny to me; in the 1980s,
  Robots were "the thing" but then in the 1990s, anything robots
  or artificial intelligence seemed "old-fashioned". I never
  thought they'd come back as "a thing".

  Then, somewhere around 2003/4, I started seeing little bits and
  pieces of robot stuff and AI stuff and now they're both much
  more active areas of research.

  They call the inbetween period, "AI Winter". They can trace it
  back to the total abandonment of 5th generation computer
  systems; we're still on 4th generation computer systems

  after what seemed like a VERY LONG delay.. that things are
  picking up speed again.
