Well that's what I mean when I say metaphor. I believe we CREATE
  new metaphors spontaneously; in fact, I'm starting to believe it
  is the only way we learn _anything_.

  I use the term metaphor but with it, I mean analogy, synonym,
  synonymous, equates to - there's a number of ways to use it, but
  metaphor seems to cover a lot of bases at once.

  One analogy connects to another yet there are differences. This
  creates two related but distinct concepts which continue to
  diverge as more analogies are built on top of analogies, all
  starting from birth.
