I like the recycle model. A Civilization isn't a Person unless
we treat it as such. The trouble I see with things like "The
West" is its being treated as if it is a Person.
Each Civilization is being treated as if a person.. that's born,
lives and died.
But what is a civilization?
That's not to say he's wrong. I'm not. But, by default, anything
that wasn't wasn't, then is, will one day be no longer is.
The concept that something could possibly be eternal/forever in
nature, whether a Civilization or a Universe, is, while not
impossible, less likely.
