Oh I believe we have choice. There's a "me" here. But I also
  believe that bacteria have a similar form of self-awareness.
  They have similar communication abilities, know what's an "us"
  and a "them". I don't think they run on automatic either.
  Doesn't matter what I believe though. Functionally, I'm "me".
