It's true, but in theoretical physics, there's not as much
observation and much more ideas. It's fine, except they try to
put themselves on the top of the Science heap. They inspire
people. Chemistry doesn't inspire people as much yet it's more
of Science.
There's a growing movement within the Theoretical Physics
community to remove the requirement of testable hypothesis.
But can you see the problem with that? It ceases to be a Science
at that point. There's the romanticized notion of Science, and
then there's the reality of how the Sciences are practiced. It's
important to see what's _actually_ happening and not have a
head-in-the-clouds romantic notion about the wonders of Science.
It's a rough, competitive set of fields in reality.
