It's Tesla's fault.
  He worked on AC instead of DC like Edison wanted.
  If he put his genius to DC instead of AC, the world's fair
  would've been lit up by DC instead of AC (because Westinghouse
  wouldn't have had Tesla's patents to buy up), battery technology
  wouldn't have stagnated for DECADES, leaving us with hot iPhone
  batteries... and AC would've been reserved for moving big
  motors. Most of what's in our homes converts to DC in the end
  anyway. Plus battery powered cars.

  Oh well. People's greed for AC speed might've had something to
  do with it as well, so I shouldn't be so hard on Tesla. I just
  get tired of the adoration he gets sometimes.
