Me too. The construction paper feather and pilgrim hats in
fourth grade Thanksgiving Class feels like a distant memory when
you learn about some of the atrocities committed on BOTH
sides... but like any war, once it gets started.. it's gets
nasty. Of course, Western Europeans were the first aggressors
and when they became more powerful - powerful enough at the time
of the trail of tears... it was.. well, sickening, and the
native americans had fully lost by that point.
last thanksgiving, I counted how many versions there were of the
Thanksgiving Story. I counted 17 unique distinct tellings of the
tale, some radically different from each other.
