Indeed tongue emoticon I purposely live in a Windows world
because I have a need to stay close to the people I serve..
which is.. pretty much *any* regular person who uses a computer
around me and goes, "OMG KEN SOMETHING'S NOT WORKING!"
So, don't get the luxury to allow myself to express my inner
nerd-dom by going Linux. I like staying close to common ppls
problems by actually _having_ those same problems myself tongue
emoticon
I wanted to learn APL - I found a free thing I downloaded and
spent a few hours tinkering with it. I love the special symbols
- fascinating stuff with the history and all.
Lets see - past week it was Erlang and _somewhere_ along the
line, I tripped over Drakon. Before that, I dabbled with
FORTH... I guess I'm going through all of the "unspoken heroes"
of computing, trying to get a grasp on how they think.
As for me, I use whatever tools are available. I don't care how
I get something done, as long as I can. My "go to" tool is
Microsoft Excel; there's not much structured anything you can't
fit somehow into a spreadsheet for some quick monkeying around.
I mean, I _could_ write a program in some language or have some
kind of database, but everything I do is quick-and-dirty and
usually involves forcing all kinds of programs to cooperate with
each other in some way to achieve whatever result I want.
[I spent most of my time in the command line... which is
frustrating in *its* limitations as I remember VAX/VMS, which
had a beautiful shell] Never liked unix/linux shells generally.
I know them, I can work with them - they're powerful but..
they're all lowercase. Gets annoying after a while. I LIKE
UPPERCASE. tongue emoticon
