The USA is an awfully big place.
It's easy to change things in Europe with tiny countries the
  size of our states.

An entire infrastructure is difficult to change. In the 1980s,
everything was GOING METRIC. So, teachers scrambled to include
  Metric in everything.

Anyway, it flopped and failed, to my disbelief. So, I just had
to master two systems. It's not that hard.

Metric is nice - all those 10s. But just throw a 7 at ANY of
those systems, and you successfully fuck them up. [pardon the
  language but it's true].

I love 7s for that reason.

Besides, what about our silly clocks? THEY'RE still on the 60
system. And we've aligned our time based on the activities of
some cesium atoms playing ping-pong which were CALIBRATED via
the Sun and stars and planets.

  Let's fix that too.

Sheesh. if someone wants to use Zrak flark pline mvrak zgong for
2 + 2 = 4, we have computers to help us translate. Consistency
  is nice but dull.
