Agreed. There's a lot of hurdles to overcome with silicon-based
brains, but not so with robotics.
Physical systems can be modeled with very small brains that can
accomplish a lot of work for humans, and AI, as it stands is
extraordinarily _primitive_, despite big announcements from IBM
and Google and others through the years. They're full of shit
and they know it. But they need funding and for funding, they
need True Believers with Deep Pockets, so they have to inspire
people.
I know. I keep getting grant requests from my college I spent a
year and a half at 24-25 year ago. Today they sent a packet of
seeds and a handwritten letter from a likely rich white girl
talking about her project as if she was a starving African
save-the-child letter to appeal to my emotions. Fuck them.
