I've been collecting my writings in a single place online,
sorted by date, over the past whatever years have been so far in
my life that I have records for. A lot of pre-2000 stuff is
harder and harder to find - my online life goes back to 1988,
but I also have typewriters I've played with and thankfully made
printouts or had backups of a lot of it. I'm hoping to use my
writings as a tool to understand my own thought patterns better,
so I can help people who don't naturally understand me, by
learning to better speak the languages they do speak.
By languages, I don't mean necessarily 'foreign language" - but
rather, ways of thinking and relating to the world that are
'foreign to me' - or that I am foreign to them. Being a
creative-type, I'm always surprised just how many people just
think, "Oh, he's abstract" and leave me at that, in that vague
category. So I've been learning to translate my thoughts in ways
that a number of people can understand but it's hard at times.
Anyway, thank you for the group. I've wanted to join writing
groups, as I love to write - it's my primary mode of
communication. [speaking, I get all tongue tied as my mouth
doesn't move as fast as my brain] - my fingers fly at 110 wpm
and my keyboards end up rekt all of the time. [this laptop is on
its 2nd keyboard], but I don't join them because it's not a
profession-type thing for me. My dream is a "Thought Collector"
- since I was 11 yrs old and made many real world attempts at
it, using whatever technologies were available at the time.
Technology *still* isn't where I need it to be, but I'm working
with the limitations we have today. So that's my short tale and
thanks for the group; I'm a writer because I love writing, not
for a profession, and I identify strongly with "being INFP", so
it's just what I needed at this point in time. I'll try not to
be so verbose later but I wanted to say "Hi" from this
perspective at least once
