Indeed. I see it in a lot of places. Mathematics education for
example. "Show your work". Doesn't matter if you get the answer
right because you did it in your head. If you don't show your
work, you fail. My nephew is 10 and has been dealing with that
shit for 3 years now and I dealt with it myself. The move to
Common Core in US education just made school suck in a different
  way. Oh well.

Education, to me, should be about helping show how "who you are"
is reflections of the past WITHOUT making you conform to the
past. Otherwise, we just get stuck in the past and creativity
that leads to new future creations is curtailed or destroyed.

Pissed me off when I was 8 and an art teacher told me, "I WAS
DOING IT WRONG". Pisses me off at 43, especially for the current
  generation because NOTHING HAS CHANGED.

Nephew in 3rd grade last year came up upset because "he drew an
owl wrong and wasnt trying". according ot the teacher. HE
REFUSED to draw ANYTHING for 8 months. I didn't push anything, I
just observed his remarks about "not being able to draw".

Thankfully, he has a case of the 4th grade "fuck its" which is
awesome to me. He sees the BS of teacher opinion more and more
  and he's drawing again.
