As a collector of interesting people (speaking of friendships,
not a dead bug collection in jars in a dusty shelf sitting in a
woodshed with a sign that says "free hugs, candy and porn" and a
chainsaw at the ready)...
... I've heard of many and none surprises or disturbs me really.
One girl I knew in college had a chainmail fetish; she had a
prop she'd make her boyfriends wear; kind of a chainmail vest
and gloves I suppose... and a helmet.
Wasn't my girlfriend, but I heard stories. Got to see the getup
too. Seemed logical; she was also a Monty python fanatic. She
was the trivia queen at drinking parties.
Of course there are the various blood fetishes and such,
asphyxiation, all sorts of food, etc. Most common fetish I've
heard about seems to be good ol' fashioned roleplaying; naughty
child / parent stuff. All harmless enough; and I won't make the
standard BDSM wisecrack 'cause they got stopwords afaik.
But, that's what happened when a 14 yr old nerd gets a hold of
that gigantic Alfred Kinsey study in the library, when other
kids are looking for boobies and ballsacks in Nat Geo mags.
[kids today have it easier] - I read about it all, listed in
nice chart forms along with percentages and such. All factual,
straightforward, "it's no big deal", hyperbole free reporting of
"This is how things are"; and I remember loving how OLD the
study was; opened my eyes to the Adult World and took the veil
of mystery down for me. A good thing imo.
