Well my personal opinion is that "I don't know" either way.
Every elegant explanation as to why/how things happen has its
flaws so to me it's silly to "play sports" with them and pick
  teams.

  I wasn't there to see it :P

Take away words like impossible, and some of the hyperbole about
"worried about losing their careers " and you would get a Like
or agreement from me. I don't think Evolutionary theory as it
stands is perfect by any means, and the field of biology just
keeps plugging along dong the best its can to classify nature
and generally doesn't get involved in these things.

Except my new buddy Koichiro Matsuno who advocates a shift from
3rd to 1st person.. and utilizing the Dative form to better
reflect the emergence of time and a more plausable evolutionary
theory bridging the gap better between atom and cell as it were.

But to me it's descriptors of how things are. None of these
things take away God; neither proving nor disproving. But I'm
agnostic. I don't know. But I like understanding how things
work, or appear to. [2]t note: I'm not trying to prove a point
of any kind really. I'm just excited to find someone (he
invented protobiology back in the late 80s so he's kinda a big
deal) - who understands my conceptualization of Time which makes
Time as personal from every perspective of the Universe as it is
for me, all based on its needs. I like that. A lot. And I didn't
have to write the papers for it either.
