I did an experiment years ago with my vision. It was one of
  those weird, "Improve your vision without glasses" things.

  One of the experiments they had you do is to imagine, REALLY
  IMAGINE, the blackest black you can think of.

  It takes a while to get there.

  Once you are confident you have the blackest black in your mind,
  go one shade blacker.

  Once that's fixed, keep going.

  The theory is that it improves the contrast of your vision. I
  have to say that part actually worked. I still need glasses
  though.

  But consequently? I rarely see black anymore.
