Someone asked elsewhere: *"do you think that the people have the
right to end there own life?"* and this is my answer: I'd want
to make sure psychiatric evaluation, counseling, and other
methods were attempted first before answering it. In a perfect
world, with perfectly rational people who did not suffer
depression or blues or irrationality, perhaps. But even then,
how can you tell? One can come up with perfectly logical and
reasonable reasons for suicide. All the 0s and 1s check out and
they can still be completely wrong. So a right? Perhaps, but
it's not fair. I didn't ask to be here either. I might get
jealous :P Also, if suicide is accepted by a society there is a
danger that Doctors, family and friends could work on convincing
someone that suicide was a rational answer for them, perhaps as
a "greater good" for society or whatever when really they just
want to get rid of them for other reasons. "Go kill yourself"
would be a useful weapon in a society like that. The bullies
would win.
