I believe language is in all forms of life. It is communication.
  Bacteria communicate. They have language. I don't think we
  developed it especially.

  We turned out differently only because we write stuff down.
  Other creatures write things down, but the information is more
  limited; tribal clues left by primates, dogs urinating on trees,
  etc.

  We also have thumbs. Huge improvement.
