Young babies seem to have no sense of "object permanence" I
think it's called. When something disappears, it's simply
"gone". Baby cries because it's gone forever.

Fast forward. Both Science and Religion are attempting to
give us certainty of "what's happening when/where we're not
looking". That's my theory.
