I think most kids are smarter than adults give them credit for
  but few adults take the time to listen, and the other kids are
  too busy trying to compete in the social jungle. If they're
  *lucky*, maybe they'll get a good friend or two that will really
  take the time to listen. The rest either have to hide their
  smarts for fear of ridicule or turn their talents into sarcasm
  (dark side) or art/music/hobbies/obsessions (light side) [using
  Star Wars reference for Good/Evil]
