*A Good Impression* _How important is it?_ Well, what is a good
impression? It depends on a number of things. You are who you
are but you're more than just *you*. You're also the one you
*appear* to be - but to *who[m]*? Ask "Who do I want to
impress?" and what are my reasons why. Is it Mom, Dad, Teacher?
Friend, Boss, Client? Community, School or Public?* Sister,
Cousin, Great-Aunt long dead? We have many people whom we feel
the need to impress. For some it may be God or Jesus or Mentor.
But decide: What, for *you* is worth the stress? If* a
wrinkle-free shirt, tied shoes, white smile, is what they ask,
and it's something you don't mind to give,* then by all means,
you can dress to look the part, and you'll be accepted and then
be let in. But perhaps you are a contrary sort and think, "No!
You can't tell me what to do!"* Then consider, perhaps, who it
is then that, you want to impress instead? For me, shirt
untucked, hair undone, perfectly capable of looking just fine...
the ones that I find I wish to impress are the misfits and
outcasts and awkward people, those just a little left of center
and of myself, they tend to remind. Of course, when the time
comes when I need to look the part. I tuck my shirt in and comb
my hair and whiten my teeth and straighten my back. It's not
really hard to fit in, at least some, if that's what you want to
do. There's rules to learn and guidelines to follow, all
practical and perfectly true. I follow them when I must and I'm
ok with them all, they keep our society a-flow. But when I'm
with friends, mostly here online, this is where I let myself go.
Thanks, my friends.* Not a great poem but I really wasn't
shooting for poetry at first.* Sorry if it came out the worst.*
Just an idea I had and felt the need to converse :P
