The rule sounds very similar to American (and perhaps English?)
  taught method except for a key difference: Division and
  Multiplication are swapped. Very interesting - I wonder if
  anyone in the math world has trended further math skills to see
  which ended up better? I mean, yes multiplication and division
  are interchangable if they're treated like the fractions they
